Ahhhh Fridays...

I know most people are so ready for Fridays... I've unfortunately gotten used to thinking "Ahhhh, Thursday..." because my job is Mon.-Thurs. Now it's summer, and my job will be Wed. and Thurs. only... after checking a calendar, I realized that is ONLY 14 days of work. Not too bad, right? I'm thankful for being able to work these type of hours and still grocery shop without worrying about not having money in my account to pay for what I'm buying. Yes, I've been there...

One of our handymen lives like that. He works for a cousin who seems to forget to pay him. YES, it's true, he actually does forget... can we say ADD? Anyway... he struggles, but guess what? He's happy with his life as is. He's happy he CAN work... he's happy he gets paid... he's thankful. Thankful to work the hours he works (he's a hard worker too!), and thankful he can fish all weekend. I think that he's reached a point in his life where lessons have been learned and he's happy and thankful to be where he is. How many of us can say that? How many of us are happy where we are and content not to change a thing?

On to another subject... I was just thinking about the handyman because he's here working on stuff... They've been here three months and a few days, but I think they may be wrapping things up. Wow...

So the other subject is the boy... he's got some lessons to learn about life and at times I fear he's learning the wrong lessons. The thing is, through a conversation with the kids about the lessons HE needs to learn they said something about me, that I knew, but didn't realize... make sense?

The boy was saying that if he ever gets married then divorced (not sure how we got on this subject), he wouldn't be the one leaving the house... we were all taken aback, as this isn't the way to be. You at least work it out by selling and splitting the money, blah, blah, blah... in other words... don't be an ass about things. Then he asked me what I would do if I was "getting divorced." The girl said that of course I would leave because that's just how I am. Hmmm... I wasn't quite sure how to take that, but I think I'm going to take it in a positive way.

How can I do this? Well, I look at it like this... first of all it's true. I would leave because I wouldn't want anything we shared for myself. I wouldn't go into a relationship for the material things. If I wasn't being treated right, and I didn't have the love I deserved, material things mean nothing. I know it isn't a fairy tale world out there. I've lived it... the key word in that sentence is lived... even without things, I lived my life by doing things I enjoyed. So, I won't take what the girl said as a slam, because I've never just "left" anything... so there.

Okay... I have things to do. I'm off to enjoy my Friday...

Wow...

It doesn't feel like my last blog was less than 20 days ago... it honestly feels like it's been way longer!

This has been one crazy month of running around and I'm exhausted. For those of you with a Facebook, you've probably seen the app that tells you the word you used most in your status updates over the course of a year. I think this past year, "exhausted" will be my most used word.

The nice thing is, I'm off for a few weeks because school is out for us. I'll go back in June to teach two high school classes. This is a bit of a concern since I've never taught high school before, but I think it will be fine. The wife is throwing a fit over it because she wants me home... I try to remind her that it's only 1 1/2 days a week, but she still isn't happy about it...

SO, these next few weeks, I'm going to focus on my writing once again, and will hopefully blog more too!
In the meantime, I'm going to post some birthday, mother's day pictures, and more!

At the Harbor before sailing on the Sea Wolf... if you're ever in Dallas, Texas, you need to head to Rockwall and take a cruise on this sailboat!!

The Captain and his first mate!

The huge sails that took us around the lake!

The boat graveyard

Our marina

At the Ranger game with the kids!

I love the ballpark!

The National Anthem... do YOU know the words?

MY favorite moment of the Ranger/Yankee game

A view of the crowd!

Watching the sailboat races from the porch... so peaceful!

Resting while the moms and kids watch the sailboat races!

Resting, ignoring the sailboat races :)

Sweet Callie resting now that the races are over ;)

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

I hope...

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far! It's almost over if you're a Mon-Fri worker bee!!

This has been a very busy, yet fun week! We celebrated our anniversary yesterday, May 3rd. We always go out to our favorite sushi place... the place of our first date! We were feeling a bit old this time around though because we were home by 9 pm. Oh well... we're content. I guess that's what counts!

Today we will be celebrating my birthday. I'm not sure what we're doing... the wife is going to surprise me! I thought our up- coming trip to Six Flags and the Ranger game were birthday celebration activities, but I won't complain :).

Then of course we'll be celebrating Mother's Day... a double dose here in our house!!

All fun stuff, but we'll be exhausted by next week! Thank goodness next week is the last week of school!!

Sunday Morning

I love slow, lazy days... The only thing I absolutely must do today is pick up the kids this evening. Right now I'm sitting in the window, waiting for the rain. Since we've been here we've had three big storms. Storms on the lake are scary... I've never seen lightening such as this. We've had hail each time as well, along with winds that drive the rain so hard into our back windows, that we end up having an indoor waterfall. This isn't good... we'll have to replace the windows, but it is amazing to see. In the back of the house, it looks like the end of the world... in the front it looks as if there's nothing but a light rain. After telling you this, you may wonder why I'm waiting for the rain. It's a double edged sword... the lake is low... we need the rain. So, as excited as I get over a tiny slip of sunshine through the clouds... I also know we don't need the sunshine right now.... we've got ALL summer for that!

I've given myself two full weeks to get swim suit ready. It's true what they say about hitting forty... unless you're a work-out fiend, it's so freakin' hard to keep yourself toned. So, I started dieting... not really to lose weight, so much a to just feel good again. I've got the worst stomach in the world, meaning practically everything makes me sick when I eat it. I've gone gluten free, lactose free, red meat free, coffee free :( ... gluten free is hard when you're going out to eat, so that one is harder to stick by and I do notice a difference when I have gluten filled foods... unfortunately. This diet has truly made a difference as far as how I feel, and I lost weight right away. I do believe I've reached my thresh-hold weight... I can't seem to get under it. That's perfectly fine, but I still need to tone. Working out three times a week and playing tennis with the ball machine isn't really helping, so I have a new goal. I will now do my sit ups every day, adding ten each time, and I'll do my cardio at least 5 times a week... I hate cardio... bleh! I see women every day walking and running... we work so hard to maintain or get where we want to be physically... it's just not right!!! We should just enjoy life and eat what we want!!

Speaking of hitting forty... I am now quickly approaching 41... in just 3 days! I've said it before and I'll say it again... getting older is much better than the alternative!! For my birthday, I will just enjoy life and eat what I want. I'll just have to do some extreme medicating before hand!

I hope everyone has a terrific Sunday and an even better Monday!!
